Gerry Thomas Buckles
Funeral services for Mr. Gerry Thomas Buckles, age 21, of Alexandria, LA were held at Young's Funeral Home on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at 1 PM with Rev. A. B. Masters officiating under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mr. Buckles was born February 17, 1988, in Natchez, MS and moved into Heaven’s hands on Sunday, March 22, 2009. Though his life here on this earth was short, he touched the lives of many and he will never be forgotten.
Mr. Buckles was preceded in death by by his maternal grandfather, Thomas Jefferson McVay Jr.
He is survived by his mother Shirley Jean Starr of Leesville, La.; his father and step-mother Gerry and Carmen Buckles; of Ferriday; his maternal grandmother Teresa McVay of Haynesville, La.; and his maternal grandmother Linda Sue McVay of Ferriday; paternal grandfather Gerry and his wife Lydia Buckles of Summit, Miss.; paternal grandmother Liz and her husband Dewayne Sikes of Ferriday.
He is also survived by three sisters, Cassie Buckles, Jessica Venard and Megan Venard of Leesville; and brother Matthew Buckles of Ferriday.
Also surviving Mr. Buckles are his uncle Michael Buckles of Vidalia; aunt Kathy Cloud of Rogers, Ark.; aunt Rebecca and David Gifford of Minden, La.; aunt Christina and John Flora of Leesville; aunt Chasity and Brian Seals of Ridgecrest; 15 cousins and numerous other family friends.

Robert Cleve Sumrall
Robert Cleve Sumrall, age 77, a lifelong resident of the Lawrence Creek Community in Franklinton, La., passed away at 8:20 a.m., Sunday, March 22, 2009, at his residence following a brief illness.
He was a retired dairy farmer and a member of Lawrence Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Franklinton.
Mr. Sumrall is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ella Rice Sumrall of Franklinton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Relton and Judy Sumrall and Tim and Beverly Sumrall; one daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Greg Seal, all of Franklinton; six grandchildren, Leland (Stephanie) Sumrall, Josh Sumrall, Kristen Sumrall, Jaron Edwards, Shaina Sumrall and Callie Seal; one great-grandchild, Dillon Sumrall; and two step-grandchildren, Sheri Phelps and Jeremy Edwards.
He is also survived by one sister, Hilda Carnegie of Bogalusa, La.; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. He was the brother-in-law of Mrs. Naumie Cox of Parhams and the uncle of Juanita and Walter Magee of Parhams, and Ernie Burley of Bossier City, La.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Stacy Lynette Sumrall; his parents, Morgan and Rosa Dean Dumrall; and two sisters, Ada Thomas and Mary Creel.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 24, 2009, at 2 p.m., in the Crain Funeral Home chapel with Elders Lerand Hunt, Don Jacobs, and Tommy Hudnall officiating.
Burial followed in the Nobles Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ricky Rice, Ernie Burley, Clay Sumrall, Darin Warren, Eric Carnegie, Danny Phelps, Billy Knight, and J. R. Williams.
Catherine Kelley
Funeral services for Mrs. Catherine Kelley, age 82, of Ferriday, were held at Young's Funeral Home, Ferriday, on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at 2 PM with Rev. Bob Schelmer officiating.
Interment followed at New Pine Hill Cemetery in Sicily Island under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mrs. Kelley was born December 25, 1926, in Fordyce, AR the daughter of Ludie and J. Henry Stanfield, and she passed from this life Saturday, March 28, 2009, at her residence in Ferriday. She was a resident of Ferriday and a housewife.
Mrs. Kelley was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Kelley; her sister, Louise Hall; and her brothers, James, Germaine, Don & A.B. Stanfield.
She is survived by  her daughter, Cynthia Kelley Oden; her grandchildren, John Curtis Oden III, NoraFaye Ann Oden, and Marvin Joe Oden.
Also surviving Mrs. Kellye are her great- granddaughters, KaSandra and Kimberly Butts; her sisters, Anne Mae Breazele, Ruby Sellers, and Jean Feasler; and her brothers Jewel Stanfield and  Rex Stanfield.
The Pallbearers were friends of the family.

Mae Roberts
Funeral services for Mrs. Mae Roberts, age 95, of Vidalia, will be held at First Baptist Church of Vidalia on Thursday, April  2, 2009 at 10 AM with Dr. Ralph Webber and Bro. Dan Glenn officiating.  
Interment will follow at New Pine Hill Cemetery in Sicily Island under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Vidalia.
Mrs. Roberts was born January 30, 1914, in Lucien, Ms., the daughter of Aston Golmon and Lucinda Barfoot Golmon, and  passed from this life Saturday, March 28, 2009, in Winnsboro.  She  was a resident of Vidalia, a cook for the Concordia Parish School Board, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Vidalia where she served as a Sunday School teacher.
Mrs. Roberts was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Roberts, and two sons, James and Joe Roberts.
 She is survived by three sons, Larry Roberts and his wife Ann of Bossier City, Ronnie Roberts and his wife Maria of Chesapeak, Va., and Tommy Gene Roberts and his wife Allison of Wisner.
 Mrs. Roberts is also survived by 14 grandchildren and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.
The Pallbearers will be Greg Roberts, Michael Roberts, Jason Exelby, Richard Mosley, Joseph Odenwald, and Daniel Johnese.
The family will receive friends at Young's Funeral Home, Vidalia, from 6 PM to 8 PM today, Wednesday, April  1, 2009.
