Shirley Ann Rogers McCall
Funeral services for  Mrs. Shirley Ann Rogers McCall, age 67, of Acme, La., were held at Acme Baptist Church on Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at  2 PM with Bro. James Gass and Rev. Cindy Robinson officiating.  
Interment followed at Acme Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mrs. McCall was born May 23, 1941, in Ferriday, the daughter of Robert Ruben Rogers and Bobbie Colleen Roers, and passed from this life Monday, April 13, 2009, in Ferriday.  She  was a resident of Acme, a home maker and nursing assistant and was a member of the Acme Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Lee McCall.
Mrs. McCall is survived by her husband, Leon McCall of Acme, and her daughters, Bobbie and her husband Milton Sanders of Acme, and Karen and her husband James Gass of Sicily Island.
She is also survived by her brothers, Jake Rogers and his wife Juanita, and Bobby Rogers, all of Monterey.
Also surviving Mrs. McCall are her grandchildren, Michael and Will Sanders, Alicia Wiggins, Gwenn Pitts, Jenny Ogle, and Stephen and Jonathan Gass; and her great-  grandchildren, Madalynn and Raelynn Sanders, and Ava Wiggins.
The Pallbearers were Michael Sanders, Will Sanders, Sherman Wiggins, Joe Rogers, Jonathan Gass, James Ogle, and Don Pitts.
The Honorary Pallbearer was Stephen Gass.
Memorial donations may be made in memory of Mrs. McCall to St. Jude’s Research Hospital.

Lillie Spillers
Funeral services for  Mrs. Lillie Spillers, age 81, of Vidalia, were held at First Baptist Church Of Vidalia on Thursday, April 16, 2009, at  11 AM with Bro. Dan Glenn officiating.
Interment followed at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Natchez, MS under the direction of Young's Funeral Home of Vidalia.
Mrs. Spillers was born October 9, 1927, in Sicily Island, the daughter of James Spears and Nanny Smith Spears,  and passed from this life Monday, April 13, 2009, at Camelot Lesuire Living in Ferriday.
She  was a resident of Vidalia,  a Self Employed Real Estate agent,  and a member of the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of WMU.  She was also a member of the Vidalia Garden Club, Order of the Eastern Star, the Concordia Parish Realtor Association and on the Budget Finance Committee.
Mrs. Spillers was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Spillers, a son, John L Spillers, and her parents.
She is survived by her daughter, Dianne and her husband Freddie  Landers, and her son Buddy Spillers and his wife Phyliss, all of Lake St. John.
She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were  the grandchildren.

Roger Kelly
Roger Kelly, 67, of Tupelo, Ms., died Tuesday, April, 14, 2009, at Oak Manor Healthcare Center in McKenzie, Tn., after a lengthy illness.  He was born August 12, 1941, in Archibald, La., to Clyde and Etta Kelly.
He was a member of West Jackson St. Baptist Church in Tupelo, Ms.  He taught a fourth grade Sunday School Class for several years.  He was a Navy Veteran and very patriotic.  He worked for Union National Life Insurance Company for thirty years and was a District Manager for seventeen years.  He enjoyed music, hunting, fishing, all sports, and people.  He was an avid LSU fan.  He loved participating in activities with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Diane Boyd; and one nephew, Tony Watson, and adopted father, Alvin Holcomb.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Jerri Kelly; one daughter, Evette Lange of Bentonville, Ar.; one son and his wife, Chip and Michelle Kelly of St. Louis, Mo; one sister and her husband,  Brenda and John Cain of Ferriday, La.; adopted mother Louise Holcomb of Tupelo, MS; three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law; Winston and Kay Jenkins of Natchez, Ms.; Ada Finn of Natchez, Ms., James and Barbara Brasher of Ferriday, La. Three grandchildren, Kelly Lange, Mallory Lange, and Hunter McKee; six nieces; seven nephews; one uncle Fred Spencer and wife Bonnie, of Mangham, La.; a special cousin Glen Davis; numerous great nieces and nephew; and great great nieces and nephews. Also, numerous cousins.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 18, 2009 at Young's Chapel with Bro. Bo Swilley and Bro. Wayne Gray Officiating.
Burial was at the Rogers Cemetery in Clayton, La.
Pallbearers were Bill Colvin, Neil Faulkner, Jack Lofton, Manson Nelson, Jr., Paul Riggs, William Seyfath, Kenneth Watson and Lane Watson.
Honorary Pallbearers were Hiram Copeland, H. L. Irvin, Charles Massey, Billy Rucker, Glen McGlothin, and Ferriday Bulldogs Class of 1959.
Memorials may be made to the Children's Choir at Cliff Temple Baptist Church, 204 Spokane Road, Natchez, Ms.  39120.
Alvin F. Ford
Funeral services for Mr. Alvin F. Ford were held at 2 PM Monday, April 20, 2009, in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home with Revs. Arvie Jolly and Emmit Belgard officiating.  
Interment followed in the Taylor Chapel Cemetery, under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Jena.
Mr. Ford, age 92, was born October 10, 1916, the son of Benjamin Esau Ford and Annie Ruth Bass Ford, and passed from this life on April 18, 2009, at LaSalle Nursing Home in Jena.
Mr. Ford was a logger in the timber industry and an oilfield worker for many years. He was always proud of the fact that he lived longer than any of the other Ford men.
He is survived by his daughter, Vicki Dianne Thompson of Ball; and sons, Bobby Lee  Ford and his wife Evelyn  and Travis Ford and his wife Virgina, all of Jonesville.
Mr. Ford is also survived by his sister, Velma Lee Jones of Jena; his brother, Benjamin E. (Pete) Ford, Jr. of Jonesville; his son-in-law, Michael Ducote; nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy Ford; his daughter, Gloria Sue Ford Ducote; brothers Albert, Sherman and Wonnie Ford; and sisters, Audie Brown and Ruth Bass.
Pallbearers were Barry Ford, Kyle Ford, Joseph Davis, John Davis, Monty Smith, James Ford, Todd Babin and Freddie (Butch) Bass.
Honorary pallbearers were Mark Davis, Todd Babin, Jr., Spencer Yarbrough, Travis Smith, Laban Ford and Cullen Jordan.

Sallie Mae Duncan
The homegoing celebration for the life of Sallie Mae Duncan was held at 1 PM on Monday, April 6, 2009, at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Jonesville with Rev. Herbert Gullette officiating.
Interment followed at Elmer Cemetery under the direction of Gayden Funeral Home.
Sallie Mae (Lil Sis) Duncan was born in Jonesville on September 28, 1942, the daughter of loving parents, Myra Branch and Walter Stevenson, who preceded her in death. She passed from this life April 1, 2009.
Sallie Mae accepted Christ at an early age. She was baptized by Rev. David Smith. At the time of her homegoing, she was a good and faithful servant at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church of Jonesville, pastored by Rev. Herbert Gullette.
Sallie Mae’s favorite word was “Oil,” a word that only her daughters truly knew and understood what was actually being said. It was a standing joke and scenario that will continue to bring to mind the joy and laughter that the girls shared with their mother along with all the other wonderful, loving memories that will forever come to mind, reminding the family that although Mother is out of sight, she will never be out of their hearts or their thoughts.
Sallie Mae was united in holy matrimony to James Duncan on August 13, 1967. She was a dedicated and loving wife as well as  a mother. For out of that loving marriage of 38 years, they were blessed with 14 children, two of whom preceded her in death: James Duncan, Jr. and Harrison Duncan; also preceding her in death, Kathleen Duncan, Milton Duncan, and James Duncan. Four brothers preceded her in death as well: Walter Stevenson, Lee Andrew Stevenson, Albert Stevenson, Sr., and Larry Stevenson.
Sallie Mae leaves to cherish her loving memory: Daughters, Michele (Wilburt) Jefferson, Denise (Eddie) Jackson, Debbie (Freddie) Duncan, Danielle (Charles) Duncan, Ariel (Dale), all of Jonesville; Deana (Randy) Briggs of Ferriday, Suzanne (Tyrone) Duncan of Wildsville, Mary Lee (Jessie) Walker, Maggie (Lincoln), Dorothy Mae (Emmanuel) Green, Lula Mae (Walter) Allen, Francis (James) Freeman; and Sons, Scott (Angie) Duncan, Micheal (Lucretia) Duncan, Jamie (Evangelina) Duncan, John Duncan, Fredrick (Willie Mae) Duncan, Cedrick (Shirley) Duncan, Anderson (Evelyn) Duncan, Joe (Gloria) Duncan, Clarence (Ruth Ann) Duncan, Albert Duncan,  Rufus (Gwen) Duncan, Hardie Duncan, Richard Duncan, and Joe Ray (Charlene) Duncan, all of Jonesville; three sisters, Pearl Stevenson, Lucy Mae Rhone, and Rose Marie Shavers, all of Jonesville; two brothers, Joe Stevenson, Jonesville, and Charlie Stevenson, Alexandria; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
The pallbearers were David Stevenson, Eddie Jackson, Tyrone Curry, Anderson Duncan, Jr., Eric Duncan, and Freddy Wilkerson.
The honorary pallbearers were Cedric Duncan, Jamie Duncan, Scott Duncan, Fredrick Duncan, Anderson Duncan, and Micheal Duncan.
Guy Lee Tarver
Services for Guy Lee Tarver, age 89, of Ferriday, who died Friday, April 17, 2009, at his residence, will be at 2 PM today, April 22, 2009, at Clayton Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Melton Rushing officiating.
Burial will follow at Cypress Grove Cemetery in Dunbarton under the direction of Comer Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mr. Tarver was born April 9, 1920, in Concordia Parish, the son of Randall B. and Molly M. Tarver.
He was a retired farmer and was a member of the Pentecostal church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II in the Asian Theater.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Katie M. Tarver; one brother, Elvin B. Tarver; and two sisters, Ruby Bennett and Bernice Halford.
Mr. Tarver is survived by his sons, Donald Tarver and his wife, Stephanie, of Marion, La., and Ronald Tarver of Ferriday; his sisters, Hazel Chandler of Ferriday and Irene Bruit of Wildsville; and five grandchildren, Jeremy Randall Tarver of Ferriday, Dustin Michael Tarver of Denver, Colo., Donald Matthew Tarver of Vidalia, Desiree Tarver and Chelsea Tarver of Marion, La.
Pallbearers will be Dustin Tarver, Edward Franklin, Matt Tarver, Tony Smith, Jeremy Tarver, Travis Brewer, Gary Halford and Brock Halford.
