Before the Cricket World Cup in New York, security was stepped up.

Ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup on Long Island, New York law enforcement is on high alert after terrorist organization ISIS issued a “global threat” against the competition last month.

This weekend is when the games at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium are scheduled to begin. In a press conference on Wednesday, officials discussed the threat and stated that they had worked with local, state, and federal law enforcement to ensure the event goes without a hitch.

Law officials claimed on Wednesday that there had been threats against the World Cup in April connected to ISIS-K, and that more threats were directed towards the June 9 India-Pakistan match.

“This, I promise you. The stadium will be the safest location in Nassau County on June 9th, said to Commissioner Patrick Ryder of the Nassau County Police Department. “This is the largest security we’ve ever had to do in this county’s history,” Ryder added.
Although there isn’t a threat at the moment, New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D) stated in a social media post that her staff has been preparing by collaborating with local and federal law enforcement.
